Who We Are
MAARC GROUP (U) LTD is a multi-disciplinary Consultancy Firm that offers Architectural & Engineering Design and Project Management services, through its in-house team of Architects, Engineers & other Building/ Infrastructure Design professionals. In addition, the firm provides capacity building & training services in site management, quality systems in construction, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and graphics design among others to organizations in the construction sector. The firm is headed by Arch. Peter Mivule, a registered Architect, who has worked on a number of large-scale projects including the Lubowa Housing Project (LHP) which included both building and infrastructure works that constituted an award-winning project.
Our Services
Project Management
With a certification in Project Management (Project Management Professional) from the Project Management Institute, project delivery is one of our strengths. We have been assigned to some projects as project managers and construction supervisors with the role of integrating various consultants, and managing schedules, costs, quality, communication, procurements, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Architecture
Architecture is our core service; our team includes largely an architectural team and we specialize in sustainable modern architecture. We push for modern aesthetics and reinvigorate premodern styles such as classic, Tuscan, and Mediterranean by applying modern sustainable principles in spatial, fenestration, and parametric designs. We use technology in our design with most predominantly Building Integrated Modelling software such as Revit and ArchiCAD.
Engineering
At MAARC group, we have developed in-house interdisciplinary personnel to enhance project collaborations and an integrated design process. We have a mechanical, and electrical team, civil/structural team, and surveying team. We aim to build a fully sufficient interdisciplinary built environment consultancy team.
Investment advisory
Through investigative personnel especially through performing feasibility studies, we have managed to advise some clients on the suitability of projects, investments in land acquisition, financing, etc.
Sustainability
We have staff particularly trained in green building with credentials in participating, directing, and delivering green buildings. We also have a staff with a certification in energy audits, this has positioned us to collaborate with other consultancies with a particular need for personnel with an understanding of energy conservation and green building as a whole.
Product Design
We have a philosophy of total project design, from the building scale to fixtures and furniture. In our buildings, we chose to design everything to the smallest item in the building or space so that to a client, everything is bespoke to the organization. We have also experimented with brand designing as a part of our design process whereby we customize furniture and fixtures in a space to align with the branding and marketing of the client.
Collateral Warranties
This is a unique innovation and solution against Collateral devaluation for the banking industry that we are developing through research and practice. Real estate is the most stable supplier of debt collateral in Uganda and barely has credible options for collateral substitution. We are offering a solution for risky collateral devaluation due to physical depreciation by excavating inherent architectural, services, and structural risks that could devalue the property in any slight natural occurrence, material failures, fires, MEP systems failure, or the like to reveal all-round design and construction weaknesses that would render the property aesthetically and functionally non-appealing at any @me during the loan tenure. Our reporting serves to guarantee the banks of the assessment of the collateral to protect the banks’ interest or inform the banks’ risk appetite in loan contracts.
Value for Money Audits
This is also a new innovative space for most firms; regionally, we noted a shortfall in public VfM audits on architecture after making similar studies in other EAC countries. On the contrary, some countries in Africa and Europe have negated the notion of architectural decisions being supreme to question because they can lead to massive wastage of development funds. It is therefore a truth infallible that architectural design and engineering design alike must in addition to aesthetic appeal, work to solve the problem in the client brief in a legal, ethical, and cost-effective way and we are crafting our way of bringing the architectural discipline to this critical accountability.
